Australia’s controversial mandatory data retention scheme is now in effect, and it’s a little confusing to say the least. Even the providers who are being forced to capture and retain information aren’t confident they know what’s going on. Adrian was approached for comment and to help clarify some of the most important data retention questions.
“Privacy is very closely related to the right to free speech, as you cannot have one without the other. You have the right to decide when you want to share you and when you don’t, its the reason you close your curtains at night and dislike people looking over your shoulder, it’s human nature. Those who haven’t broken the law shouldn’t have their human right to privacy violated.“
