The inaugural Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) threat report was released on the 29th of July. [1] The report is a collaborative effort of several departments, including Federal Police and intelligence agencies. It’s a call for vigilance and a proactive approach to cybersecurity from all aspects of the Australian community.
Firstly, the report outlines the growing ‘sophistication’ of cyberattacks, and highlights the difficulty governments and business have in detection. The agencies collaborating on this report freely admit gaps in both their ability to understand threats and build relationships with business in order to improve both collaborative understanding of cybersecurity and the ability of the public and private sectors to identify and react to malicious activity.
